Nov 03, 2009 (newstodate): Romania's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, MTI, will support repair works on the runway of the Traian Vuia airport in Timisoara.
Timisoara Traian Vuia International Airport is controlled by the MTI, which holds 80 percent of the shares, the remaining shares belonging to the Proprietatea Fund.
The runway, belonging to the state, needs repair, and the airport cannot itself foot the bill, so the ministry is seeking extra means from the state's budget reserve fund to complete the works already in progress since the start of this year.
Timisoara Traian Vuia International Airport had 433,300 passengers in the first six months, up 6 percent y-o-y.
