Nov 30, 2009 (newstodate): The process towards the decision on the future of Lithuania's three airport is moving ahead.
-A protocol has now been approved, and responsibility for the process has been vested with Lithuania's Ministry of Transportation, says Rimvydas Vastakas, Vice-Minister of Transport and communication.
-The ministry will now work out documents for approval concerning the changes of the airports' management, and the three airports' individual status and roles will be defined as part of the process to change their ownership and management.
-The three airports may either be put on a privatisation tender in one parcel, or be tendered out separately.
-Early in 2010 a tender will be opened to call consultants to assist the ministry in defining the process and decide on whether to put all three airports in one parcel or one by one, as well as prepare the papers and documentation for the tender.
-My expectation is that we will be able to launch the airport privatisation tender before summer 2010, with a decision either late in 2010 or by early 2011, says Mr Vastakas.
