Nov 09, 2009 (newstodate): The Government of Republika Srpska is firmly committed to the construction of a new airport at Trebinje.
The project has been delegated to a new company, Airport Trebinje that will manage the process, including a tender to call on foreign investors to take part in the project.
If, however, private investors cannot be found, the government is intent to find resources in its own budgets to realize the airport project.
A feasibility study has been produced by Airport Consulting Vienna that finds a viable basis for the proposed airport, close to Croatia's Dubrovnik Airport and Montenegro's Tivat Airport.
Trebinje International Airport will have a 2,600m runway, and the airport will have a capacity of handling 250,000 passengers in its first phase.
