Nov 03, 2009 (newstodate): Plans for the launch of a new low-cost carrier in Lithuania, Lithuania Express, are maturing.
-We have been working hard on this project since May, 2009, but we still have some research to be completed before the final decision is made, says Thorsteinn Gudnason, Lithuania Express Project manager, and himself a member of the group of potential investors in the carrier.
-While many details still have to be sorted out, we might expect a first flight by Lithuania Express early in 2010, says Mr Gudnason.
Destinations currently under research are Berlin, Amsterdam and Copenhagen, to be served from Vilnius Airport.
Behind the project is a group of investors, primarily consisting of Icelandic aviation people who sold their shares in Iceland Express.
