Nov 05, 2009 (newstodate): The new cargo airline under formation, Sundt Atlanta Skybridge is working to position itself in the neighboring Swedish market ahead of its planned launch by November 28, 2009.
The airline plans to operate two weekly rotations between Oslo, Norway, and New York/Miami in the USA, using a leased Air Atlanta Icelandic Boeing 747-200F freighter on the route.
While the service is based on the Norwegian export of fresh salmon to the dynamically growing US market, Sundt Atlanta Skybridge will also lift other types of cargo from the Scandinavian markets, notably Sweden.
Among the options for a base to collect Swedish shipments for trucking to Oslo Gardermoen Airport is Jonkoping Airport that has also been the hub for Icelandair Cargo's operations to Sweden.
-We can confirm that we have been in contact with and informed Sundt Air Skybridge that we have the knowledge and capacity to receive, store and build air cargo loads in our terminal, Jonkoping Air Cargo Terminal, for any customer, be it an on-line of off-line airline, says Herman Larsson, Jonkoping Airport marketing manager.
