Nov 06, 2009 (newstodate): Belorussian Minsk International Airport will form the nucleus of a new multi-modal logistics center to be constructed within five years.
The Belgian company AOI NV will be the prime investor and is already registered as a resident company of the Minsk Free Economic Zone.
The new multi-modal logistics center will be connected to road, rail and airport infrastructure, and a second runway is to be constructed at Minsk International Airport to enhance the capacity of the center.
The airport, opened in 1982, currently has one 3,641m runway.
Belarus plans to set up no less than 24 similar logistics centers around the country by 2015.
