Nov 12, 2009 (newstodate): Plans for an early re-opening of Nagorno-Karabagh's Stepanakert Airport are not to be tolerated by Azerbaijan.
Stepanakert Airport, in the disputed Nagorno-Karabagh region under de-facto Armenian control since the war with Azerbaijan in the 90ies, has been inoperative ever since, but plans are to reopen it already by 2010.
Azerbaijan has again reiterated its stand and threatens to take legal action against "any airline" that tries to launch operations at the airport.
It is widely known that the Armenian carrier Armavia has plans for opening flights between Yerevan and Nagorno-Karabagh.
To commission the airport, used equipment from the airports of Stepanavan and Gyumri, Armenia, has already been installed at Stepanakert Airport.
