Nov 18, 2009 (newstodate): Lithuania's Vilnius Airport is preparing for adding its first direct connection to Italy.
The Lithuanian charter carrier Star1 Airlines, based at Vilnius, will introduce two weekly flights between Vilnius and Milan Malpensa Airport from November 21, 2009, using Boeing 737-700 aircraft, leased from Hamburg International, on the route.
During its first three months of operation, the carrier has opened flights from Vilnius to London, Dublin and Girona, Barcelona.
Star1 Airlines was established in 2009 when the holding company Star Team Group purchased the company HC Airways for the purpose of promoting and developing the inbound and outbound tourism in Lithuania.
