Nov 16, 2009 (newstodate): The Korean Air Cargo freighter service from Luleaa Kallax Airport, in North Sweden, has bee suspended.
-It is obviously a difficult time to launch a new service, and we have decided to suspend operations for a lengthy period for at least the rest of the year, says a company representative.
-It seems that the Norwegian fish exporters are rather turning their attention to the North Atlantic market the days!
The Korean Air Cargo freighter service was launched in February, 2009, but suspended during the slack summer season, resuming service again from August before being shelved again.
The freighter service targeted the Norwegian salmon producers in the northern production sites, but aimed also to attract other export shipments from shippers in the northern parts of Norway, Sweden and Finland.
The response from the fish exporting business was, however, never strong enough to secure the operation, and the service also met little success from other business sectors.
