Nov 12, 2009 (newstodate): Finnair is seeking high and low to identify further options of reducing costs and slimming the operations around its core business, passenger transportation.
In a new move the carrier has announced its decision to create business partnerships in its subsidiaries including the ground handling company Northport, Finnair Cargo Operations, and Finnair Catering.
In December 2007, Finnair decided to separate Finnair's cargo terminal activities from Finnair Cargo by forming a separate Finnair Group subsidiary, named Finnair Cargo Terminal Operations Oy.
Finnair Cargo itself is thereafter only responsible for cargo sales and marketing and related services, primarily outside the Finnish market.
Finnair is now in the process of identifying a potential partner to take a share in operating Finnair Cargo Terminal Operations, with 170 staff.
