Nov 12. 2009 (newstodate): Finnair Cargo is not overly worried by the coming launch of a new competitor, Sundt Atlanta Skybridge that will seek a foot-hold in the Finnish air cargo market.
Planned to lift-off for the first time from Oslo Gardermoen Airport for destinations New York and Miami with Boeing 747-200F aircraft on November 28, 2009, Sundt Atlanta Skybridge will offer twice-weekly capacity in the Finnish market based on RFS via Stockholm Arlanda.
-For North Atlantic traffic we still provide a daily New York JFK service, and during the winter timetable we also offer a direct weekly leisure flight to Miami which complements our year-round capacity to the US market, says Erkka Suvikumpu, Finnair Cargo VP marketing & business development.
-The high frequency of our North Atlantic services will compete favorably with the twice-weekly Norwegian freighter service that will also require an extra two days of total transportation time from Helsinki to Oslo, says Mr Suvikumpu.
