Nov 12, 2009 (newstodate): Estonian Air has seized the opportunity to conquer the market for direct flights between Estonia and Lithuania after airBaltic suspended operations on the route since October, 2009.
airBaltic launched flights on the route on September 15, 2004, but decided to suspend the service as it was used as a short-cut to discounted transit fares on the airline's European routes.
Estonian Air will now increase the weekly frequencies between Tallinn and Vilnius to ten flights a week from 16 November 2009, using SAAB 340 aircraft operated by Estonian Air Regional, a fully-owned subsidiary of Estonian Air.
