Nov 17, 2009 (newstodate): Albanian Airlines, based at Tirana, is heading for a larger aircraft fleet and the opening of new destinations.
The carrier, now owned by Azerbaijan's EVSEN Group since August 2009, is to receive four Boeing 737-300 and one Boeing 757 aircraft on an ACMI contract with Air Slovakia, adding to the existing fleet of three BAe 146 aircraft and one MD-82.
Two Boeing 737-300 and one Boeing 757 have already been delivered, and the remaining two Boeing 737-300 are to be delivered in January 2010, allowing Albanian Airlines to expand its route network with new destinations Dubai and Sharjah, Tehran, Florence, Venice, Dusseldorf, Berlin, Madrid and Jeddah.
