Nov 02, 2009 (newstodate): The liquidation of Aeroflot-Cargo and the re-integration of the cargo business in the mother airline will be a costly affair for Aeroflot.
As one consequence of the end of Aeroflot-Cargo as an individual company, Aeroflot will have to pay compensation for abrogation of contracts for the planned deliveries of three more MD-11F aircraft.
Aeroflot will thus have to pay Finnair a compensation of about 10 mio US dollars for two MD-11F under conversion, and Boeing will be paid some 6.5 mio dollars for refusal to take in one MD-11F aircraft.
In addition, Aeroflot will write-off prepayments on the MD-11F aircraft and also have to pay compensation for the Boeing 737-300F that were handed back to the leasing company in 2008 before the formal expiry of the contract.
