Nov 19, 2009 (newstodate): Aeroflot-Cargo is holding its position in the Finnish market and does not expect any changes after the decision to re-integrate the cargo business with the mother airline, Aeroflot.
-It is a change of prefix, from 507 to 555, and that is all, says Alexander Isaiev, Aeroflot-Cargo manager Finland.
-Of course 2009 has been a demanding year, but we have held our position in the market and are actually seeing volumes now above last year's levels. The crucial thing is of course to see if this is a seasonal trend only, so we will have to wait for another month before we know if it actually means a recovery in the air cargo market.
-We have a firm relationship with the Finnish exporters and forwarders, and we maintain our twice-weekly MD-11F freighter service from Helsinki via Helsinki to Moscow Sheremetyevo and from there to Hong Kong via Almaty without change of aircraft. And Almaty has also developed into a very attractive cargo destination for us, says Mr Isaiev.
