Oct 28, 2009 (newstodate): Serbia is expecting a boom in new airline traffic into Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport from next year.
The expected increase in international traffic will be spurred by the lifting of visa requirements by EU on Serb citizens from the start of the year.
The airport is seeing strong interest in launching flights to Serbia by low-cost operators and legacy carriers from countries including Hungary, Spain, the UK and Russia, and among the carriers casting eyes on the potentials in the less-developed Serb aviation market are Malev and Tarom that will both launch flights to Belgrade from mid-December 2009, while Russia's LCC Sky Express has also aired interest in the Serb market.
