Oct 21, 2009 (newstodate): A tender will soon be opened for Moldova's Chisinau International Airport modernization project, phase II.
Based on EBRD loans, the airport will renovate its 3,590m runway including new ground lighting systems, and renovate the airport's taxiways and apron area, including implementation of new airfield lighting systems.
The passenger terminal is also to be renovated during the project phase II.
Tendering for contracts will be opened by the start of 2010.
In 2008 the airport handled a total of 689,000 passengers and a meagre 400 kg of air cargo.
