Oct 14, 2009 (newstodate): Top executives from the Serbian carrier JAT are reportedly meeting with a delegation from the US Citibank, and industry sources say the parties are negotiating a plan for financing of the airline's long-overdue fleet modernisation.
Last month, Boeing representatives met in Belgrade with Serbia's minister of infrastructure.
According to the new strategy for JAT, the carrier will need a fleet of 16 modern aircraft to provide services needed for keeping the airline in the sky.
Airbus representatives have also met with JAT to continue talks on a solution to the problems around USD23 mio down-payments on eight Airbus A319 aircraft ordered back in 1981 by the Milosovic government, but never delivered - and since refused by Serbia.
