Oct 12, 2009 (newstodate): Total air cargo on Russian carriers was down 20.2 percent, y-o-y, during the first eight months of 2009.
A total of 425,414 tones of cargo and mail was carried, according to the latest figures from Russia's Transport Clearing House.
International cargo was 19.6 percent down on last year, to 293,527 tonnes, of which 285,240 tonnes was cargo carried between Russia and non-CIS states, down 19.4 percent, while 8,287 tonnes was lifted between Russia and CIS markets, down 27.2 percent, y-o-y.
The figures indicate a cautious recovery when compared to the January-July 2009 figures that showed an overall decrease in volumes by 23.1 percent, y-o-y.
