Oct 26, 2009 (newstodate): Russia's St Petersburg Pulkovo Airport will be developed in a USD1 billion project, starting from 2010 already.
The airport is Russia's 3rd largest in passenger volumes, equipped with 43 check-in counters, 47 air vessel parking facilities and four boarding bridges.
The existing terminals I serving domestic and CIS flights and Terminal II serving other long-haul flights are, however, not connected, and the infrastructure is already incapable of meeting today's traffic flows.
The German consultant Hochtief Airport is behind the master plan for the airport's development that calls for the existing terminals to be totally redesigned while a new terminal with 18 gates will be built.
