Oct 05, 2009 (newstodate): Russia's Voronezh Airport will be closed down entirely for a week, starting from tomorrow.
The airport's 2,300m runway will be renovated and resurfaced, and a new water-drainage system and new runway lighting will be implemented as the final part of an airport development project that has already caused operations to be curtailed during certain periods.
After a tender, the Moscow-based Russian construction company Krismar landed a contract for the first stage of the planned reconstruction of Voronezh International Airport.
A second tender is planned to be opened for extension by 300 m of the runway as well as construction of new airport terminals.
