Oct 29, 2009 (newstodate): Comprehensive plans for a 180 mio Rubles development in 2010 of Russia's Voronezh International Airport have now met governmental approval.
In the plans are construction of a new, enlarged apron and new taxiways, as well as a modernization of the existing passenger terminal.
The runway will also be extended from 2,300 to 2,500m to allow for operations with larger aircraft.
Over the next three years the government will spend a total of 1.5 mio Rubles on re-development of the airport.
The plans have been on the table for very long, but were halted by the financial crises in 2008.
