Oct 28, 2009 (newstodate): With only few weeks left before the planned launch of the new trans-Atlantic freighter service from Norway to the USA, doubts remain about the final approval of the project by the Norwegian CAA.
While Arild Jaabaek, Sundt Atlanta Skybridge CEO, told newstodate on October 20 that the application had been delivered to the Norwegian authorities, this information is not supported by the CAA.
-We have not registered a formal application from Sundt Atlanta Skybridge to start operations of the freighter service from Oslo, and the process will normally require some six weeks to be completed, says a CAA official on October 27, 2009.
The aircraft can operate on the AOC held by its owner, Air Atlanta Icelandic that is partner in the JV to set up the service, but as Norway is not a signatory to the US-EU aviation agreement the launch of the service will still require CAA approval.
According to Mr Jaabaek, the freighter service is to be launched by the second week of November or at the earliest thereafter.
