Oct 30, 2009 (newstodate): The parties behind the new trans-Atlantic freighter service from Norway, Sundt Atlanta Skybridge are prepared for a rough ride in a tense market.
-We are of course fully aware that air cargo rates also on the trans-Atlantic segment are currently very low. They can actually hardly go deeper, and we expect rates on the trans-Atlantic traffic sector to rise again from 2010, says Arild Jaabaek, Sundt Atlanta Skybridge CEO.
-We have, however, been confirmed by the Norwegian market players that there is certainly a need for this main-deck capacity, and we have also secured support from Norway's salmon exporters that our services will meet their demands as to schedule and quality standards.
-As we launch operations from the end of November, we build on firm commitments from some of the freight forwarders and exporters, and while the start will of course be demanding we have the accept by our board of the budgets to carry through the initial phase. So I am confident that we will be able to meet the challenge, says Mr Jaabaek.
