Oct 28, 2009 (newstodate): New Macedonian carrier Skywings International Airlines is spreading its wings over its predecessor MAT Macedonian Airlines' route network.
Taking-off for its first flight on July 19, 2009, the carrier has now launched two weekly flights from Skopje to Brussels, and flights to Rome will be introduced from November 1, 2009.
Based at Skopje Airport with Dragan Dojcinovski as its CEO, the carrier operates one Boeing 737-300 aircraft, leased from Hamburg International, from the start, but plans are to add a second Boeing 737-300 from December, 2009.
MAT Macedonian Airlines' sole Boeing 737-500 aircraft was grounded in May 2009, and the carrier eventually lost its AOC on September 1, 2009, leaving the skies for good.
