Oct 08, 2009 (newstodate): Lufthansa is readying to introduce the Airbus A380 in commercial service.
The airline's first A380 has now performed its virgin flight and will soon be transferred from Toulouse to Hamburg for configuration.
Lufthansa has ordered a total of 15 A380, with the first five to be delivered in 2010.
The carrier has yet to name the first destination to be served by the A380 from summer 2010, but expectations are that the carrier will focus on New York JFK, Tokyo Narita, Shanghai or Johannesburg for its initial Airbus A380 route network.
Already at Airbus' facilities at Hamburg is the first A380 to be delivered to Air France by the end of this month.
