Oct 06, 2009 (newstodate): If plans materialize, Lithuania's Vilnius Airport will soon see a new Russian operator opening traffic.
New to come, from October 26, 2009, is the Russian carrier Yamal Airlines that will offer flights between Moscow Domodedovo Airport and Vilnius.
The three weekly flights planned will be operated with Boeing 737-500 aircraft, and will compete with UTAir's existing flight offer between Vilnius and Moscow Vnukovo Airport.
Yamal Airlines, based in Salekhard, Russia, is already a common visitor at Vilnius Airport as the five Boeing 737-500 aircraft operated by the carrier are maintained by the Lithuanian provider FL Technics at their maintenance base at the airport.
