Oct 21, 2009 (newstodate): Times of crisis are also times for new opportunities and preparations for better times to come.
-The current times are definitely marked by a deep depression in the aviation industry, and its effects are felt everywhere, including in Iceland, says Valdimar Saemundsson, Iceland Aerotech.
-Still, visionary and experienced professionals know that exactly in times like these it is important to identify new potentials and position yourself to be able to take advantage of a coming recovery. If this recovery can be expected in 2010 or 2011, now is the time preparation.
-Formerly with Icelandair for 40 years with a background in engineering, I have been providing consultancy to several airlines and other companies in the industry as to aircraft sales and acquisition, legal procedures, technical inspections, lease arrangements and similar issues. Most of my assignments have related to Icelandic aviation companies, but I would not preclude providing consultancy to companies abroad either.
-While the general decline of activity in this industry has been felt, it is also my impression that new initiatives are constantly emerging. That is certainly also the case in Iceland where new aviation business plans are currently developing, says Mr Saemundsson.
