Oct 20, 2009 (newstodate): Cargo sales on Iceland Express on flights from Iceland are doing fine in 2009.
-We are now well into our new fishing quota in Iceland, and we have been extremely busy, says Robert Tomasson, managing director for Cargo Express, the Icelandic GSA for the carrier.
-Our exports volumes on Iceland Express' passenger aircraft for September and so far into October are about 80 percent up from last year.
-Contributing significantly to this increase was Iceland Express' introduction of Boeing 757 aircraft on flights to the UK during September. This gave us double the space of the normal Boeing 737 services.
-The good news is that with the expansion of the network of Iceland Express next year to comprise also trans-Atlantic services we will get four Boeing 757, which opens a lot of new cargo opportunities for us, says Mr Tomasson.
Cargo Express was officially established on December 1, 2008, with the LCC Iceland Express as it launch customer.
