Oct 08, 2009 (newstodate): Estonia is performing poorly in cargo and mail volumes through the capital's Tallinn Airport in 2009.
In September 2009 the airport handled a total of 1,854 tonnes of cargo and mail, a decline by 47.9 percent, y-o-y, excluding direct transit cargo.
This brings the total volumes during the first nine months of 2009 to 13,881 tonnes - down 56.7 percent, y-o-y.
The steep decline is prompted by the drop by 57.8 percent in cargo volumes, to 13,219 tonnes against 31,346 tonnes during the same period in 2008.
The reason behind is first of all a shortfall of ex-China air cargo exports to Russia, transferred through Tallinn Airport.
