Oct 06, 2009 (newstodate): Cargo and mail volumes at Latvia's Riga Airport are growing at a fast pace and have now surpassed earlier records set in May 2007.
In September 2009 the airport handled a total of 825 tonnes of air cargo and mail - an increase by 29.9 percent, y-o-y.
Cargo volumes, 474 tonnes, increased by 15.6 percent, while mail volumes, 351 tonnes, increased by 56 percent.
Through January-September, the airport handled a total of 6,480 tonnes of cargo and mail - up 18 percent, y-o-y.
Excepting February, when volumes were up 7.7 percent, the airport has seen double-digit growth rates every month so far into 2009.
The airport's figures do not include trucked cargo.
