Jan 22, 2009 (newstodate): Two Ukrainean airlines are now operating SAAB 340 aircraft.
MRK Airlines, based at Kiev Zhulyany Airport, has leased two ex-Air Nelson SAAB 340A aircraft.
The carrier operates twice daily services between Kiev and Simferopol, and from Kiev to other Ukrainean domestic destinations.
In the pipeline are also flights from Kiev to Krakow, Poland.
South Airlines, based at Odessa, operates two SAAB 340B aircraft on a lease arrangement with Romanian carrier Carpatair.
South Airlines uses the SAAB aircraft on twice-daily services to Kiev, replacing the Russian-built aircraft formerly used on the route.
