Jan 21, 2009 (newstodate): From 2009, Turkey will invest heavily in its airport infrastructure as a means to maintain economic stability amidst the global economic and financial crisis.
The government has revealed plans for upgrading five existing airport, including Istanbul Atatyrk Airport, and construction of three new airports including a new third airport to serve Istanbul, a new airport in western Turkey's Kutahya-Afyon Usak region and one in the country's southern Cukurova region.
The government will spend some USD180 mio in the airport infrastructure from 2009.
