Jan 8, 2009 (newstodate): The Swedish Safegate Group has acquired the airfield lighting activities of the brand Idman from the Dutch company Philips.
Philips Airfield Lighting is based at Vantaa with subsidiaries in Helsinki, Moscow and Beijing, while R&D as well as manufacturing has been performed at Vantaa.
Philips Airfield Lighting will continue to operate under its previous name Idman Airfield Lighting as a stand-alone business unit, with Kari Virtanen as Managing Director.
Together Safegate/Idman will be a global one-stop provider of airfield lighting systems with sales forces in Sweden, Finland, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Russia, UAE, Qatar, Australia, Singapore, China and the US.
Safegate is part of the Fairford Group, consisting of 15 wholly- and partly-owned companies in Sweden.
