Jan 16, 2009 (newstodate): 2008 was not a record year at Sweden's Cargo Center, located at Stockholm Arlanda Airport with other handling facilities at Sweden's Norrkoping and Orebro airports.
-Cargo Center handled a total of 80,000 tonnes of cargo in 2008, down six percent on the preceding year that saw an increase of 60 percent, y-o-y, says Lars Keding, Cargo Center managing director.
-A stagnation was noticeable already from summer 2008, but the decline gained momentum during the latter months of the year.
-I would not dare to predict the course in 2009. The first two months of a year are always rather weak in volumes, which will also be the case in 2009 - and for the rest of the year we, as everyone else, are probably not overly optimistic, says Mr Keding.
