JAT plans to lay off almost 40 percent of its staff in 2009 as a measure to cut costs, meaning the loss of some 700 out of 1,800 jobs.
AFter the airline's renewed but aborted attempt in 2008 to attract new investors to secure its future through a tender where noone eventually placed a bid, Serbia has now decided not to privatise its stte-owned JAT but seeking instead to restructure the debt-ridden carrier.
