Jan 29, 2009 (newstodate): Efforts to build Uzbekistan's Navoi International Airport into a joint cargo hub and logistics center will gain momentum in 2009.
Behind the initiative is an agreement signed in 2008 between Uzbekistan Airways and the Hanjin Group, parent company of Korean Air, to develop Uzbekistan's logistics infrastructure including the building of a new logistics center at Navoi, Uzbekistan.
In April, 2009, Uzbekistan Airways will introduce two Airbus A330-600F aircraft, leased from Korean Air Cargo, to perform five flights to Europe and 8-12 flights to South East Asia, using Navoi Airport as an air cargo hub between the two regions.
