Jan 28, 2009 (newstodate): Before the end of 2009, Moldova will present a master plan for rehabilitation and future development of Chisinau Airport.
A tender for proeduction of the master plan to comprise a 20-year outlook losed before Christmas, and work will start early in 2009, supported by EBRD and EIB.
The master plan will comprise evaluations of prospects for growth, economic development forecast to 2030 based on economies of similar development allowing for regional factors, and a demand forecast for the same period.
Other issues included are the identification of the new airfield, passenger terminal and associated ancillary facilities which can best accommodate the forecast growth in air traffic to 2030, as well as identification of the areas of land outside the airport's current boundaries which will be required for the future development of the Airport.
The master plan will also address issues of multi-modal access to the airport, as well as environmental issues.
