On January 16, 2009, Australian Qantas became the third airline to operate A380 flights to London, now offering three weekly flights on the route Sydney-London.
The world's first A380 operator, Singapore Airlines was also first to introduce the A380 into London from March 18, 2008, now operating two daily flights from Singapore, and Emirates, the world's leading A380 customer, followed suit from December 1, 2008, now operating two weekly A380 flights from Dubai and bringing to total of weekly A380 operations at London Heathrow to 19.
Qantas' fleet now comprises three A380, and the carrier expects to receive a further four aircraft in 2009.
