Jan 28, 2009 (newstodate): Lithuania's State-owned Kaunas Airport has named the winner of a tender for construction and operation of a new aircraft maintenance and repair facility.
In cooperation with international partners, JSC Aurela Group will lease a 16,000 sq meters land plot for 40 years to construct a 9,000 sq meters hangar facility with capability of servicing aircraft with A, B, C, and even D-checks on Airbus and Boeing aircraft up to the size of Boeing 747.
With the successfull outcome of the tender, Kaunas Airport has reached the first of five targets earlier set for development.
The second target is construction of a new air cargo terminal, followed by plans for an aviation training centre, a long-term parking facility, and finally a landside petrol station.
