Jan 16, 2009 (newstodate): Armenia's Armavia will propose that ICAO reconsider the 300 m vertical separation limit between aircraft.
The suggestion follows after the incident on Januar 11, 2009, when an Armavia Airbus A320 en-route between Yerevan and Sochi was tilted 45 degrees to the left as it was hit by the turbulence from an Emirates Airbus A380 passing overhead on its route between Dubai and New York.
Armavia states that ICAO's vertical separation limit was earlier 600 m, but was reduced to 300 m as airspace congestion became an increasing problem.
