Jan 15, 2009 (newstodate): The government of Republika Srpska, an entity wihin Bosnia and Herzegovina, has big ambitions for developing the region's civil aviation.
The government is instrumental in setting up a new airline, Sky Srpska at Banja Luka Airport that has been redeveloped after the civil war period but still sees little traffic.
Only operators at the airport are Serbia's Jat Airways offering flights to Belgrade, Serbia, Bosnia's B&H Airlines with flights to Zurich, Switzerland, and Austrojet with flights to Salzburg, Austria.
Sky Srpska is now planning to launch regional services later in 2009 with one Embraer ERJ 145XR and one 1 Embraer E-170LR, paid by state budgets.
