Jan 23, 2009 (newstodate): Bulgaria will modernise Plovdiv International Airport, starting in 2009.
The project is among 33 major transport projects now confirmed by the Bulgarian government.
In the plans is the modernisation and expansion of the airport's current passenger terminal, together with modernisation of technical installations at the terminal.
The work package, also comprising an exctension of the terminal apron area, is slated for completion by mid-year 2009 after succesful conclusion of tenders by the end of 2008.
The airport's majority owner, Plovdiv Airport EAD, has signed a contract with Plovdiv-based company Arkont-A OOD for the design of the new terminal.
