Jan 12, 2009 (newstodate): As a means to further the development of domestic aviation in Armenia, the state is considering the renovation of a number of currently inactive local airports.
A plan for the development of the country's domestic aviation has been approved by the government that considers this to be of strategic interest, opening the prospects for financing.
Armenia currently has only international air services from its two airports, managed by Slouth American owned Armenia International Airports CJSC, at Yerevan and Shirak, while the country's third airport, Erebouni near Yerecan is reserved for military use.
In the plans now is the renovation and reactivation of the small local airports at Goris, Vardenis, Gavar, Meghri, Kapan, Sisian and Jermuk.
