Sep 2, 2008 (newstodate): Work on the modernisation of Ukraine's Donetsk International Airport is progressing, including construction of a new runway.
The new runway will be completed by 2010, and the primary runway will be extended from 2,484 to 4,000 m by 2009.
The passenger terminal will be expanded to allow for handling of up to 1,000 pax per hour at international standards of quality.
New aircraft fuelling equipment, baggage and cargo handling equipment, flight information systems, CCTV security equipment, escalators and elevators will be procured, and Secondary Radar Systems of Moscow will supply weather observation stations, noise and air pollution monitoring systems and Instrument Landing System equipment.
The modernisation program was launched in the autumn of 2007 and is estimated to cdost qbout 200 mio USD.
