Sep 29, 2008 (newstodate): TAV Macedonia DOOEL Skopje and the Ministry of Transport and Communication of Macedonia have now signed the 20-year contract for concession and operation of Skopje Alexander the Great Airport, Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport, and the construction of the New Cargo Airport in Shtip.
TAV plans to undertake the operation of Skopje Alexander the Great Airport and Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport by the end of this year.
The operation of the two airports shall cover all airport activities, excluding ATC, and modernisation activities will include the technical infrastructure.
Construction of the new cargo airport in Shtip is slated to be completed by the second half of 2011.
The concession fee will be 15 percent of the gross annual turnover until the number of passengers using the two airports reaches one million, and when the number of passengers exceeds one million, this percentage shall change between four and five percent, depending on the number of passengers.
