Sep 5, 2008 (newstodate): SAS would like to expand its intercontinental route network, but growth is tied down by financial constraints.
Already this spring, SAS planned for the opening of a new route from Copenhagen to San Francisco, but plans were stalled and an intended lease of one additional Airbus A340-300 aircraft was called off.
High on SAS' wishing list are routes from Oslo to New York and from Oslo to Bangkok as well as the postponed routes from Copenhagen to San Francisco.
The carrier's current longhaul fleet comprises 11 Airbus A330/A430 aircraft, enabling SAS to re-launch its service from Copenhagen to Delhi from October 31, 2008.
