Sep 12, 2008 (newstodate): Russia's first low-cost operator, Sky Express vehemently denies any debt problems to threathen its sustained operations.
The carrier thus refutes the recent statements by the head of Russia's Rosaviatsia, who gave the airline two weeks to get its debt under control, otherwise threatening to revoke its AOC.
-Sky Express was surprised to read the comments from Mr. Bachurin, Head of the Russian Aviation Agency, as they have been reported in the media, says a Sky Express spokesman.
-We do not have any extraordinary debts to our suppliers and we have not suffered, and do not expect to suffer, any operational disruptions as a result. We do not have any bank debt at all, and have a strong group of shareholders, including the EBRD.
-There is no question of us being forced into a merger. We may have shareholders in common with AiRUnion, but that is all, he says.
Ownership of Sky Express is shared between Krasair's owner and AiRUnion general director Abramovich holding 25 percent, EBRD with 20 percent, with the remaining 55 percent held by the Altima Partners and Robinson Funds and indiviaual investors.
