Sep 16, 2008 (newstodate): Russia's civil aviation is to be thoroughly examined for lack of adherence to the country's air safety standards.
The country's general prosecutor's office has ordered its transportation branch to investigate the compliance of Aeroflot and its subsidiaries to air safety regulations, and is also expected to launch investigations into Russia's Federal Agency for Air Transport and Federal Transport Supervision Service.
Following on the recent accident in Perm, Aeroflot has also severed any ties with Aeroflot-Nord and will not allow its brand to be associated with the many regional off-springs of the former Soviet Aeroflot airline.
