Sep 22, 2008 (newstodate): Aeroflot-Nord has now re-branded itself as Archangelsk Airlines.
The return to its former name is a consequence of Aeroflot's decision, earlier this month, to abrogate its co-branding with numerous Russian airlines that emerged from the break-up of the Soviet-period Aeroflot into regional branches.
Among Russia's Top-10 airlines in passenger volumes, the former Aeroflot-Nord, now Archangelsk Airlines operates a fleet comprising 15 Boeing 737, 13 TU-134, two TU-154 and nine Antonov passenger aircraft.
The carrier plans to build a fleet of 20 Boeing 737 aircraft by 2010 to replace the Soviet-built aircraft.
